Christianity

Christians need to see the Church differentlysee them selves for who they really are to be, disciples called out to do the mission of God. We are called to be imitators of God, imitators of Jesus and the life He lived, therefore we are to be on the same mission as Jesus who was on the mission of God. His mission is to be our mission, Jesus said as the father sent Me I am sending you. Instead of seeing the church as a recipient of God’s benefits, God as the facilitator of the American dream for us. Church is not to be a gathering of pew setters, something we “go to” and have put on for us, our focus should be to be more like Jesus, a missional people, on us Going to the world.

After watching the Saddleback forum last night my position has not changed in the president election, “None of the Above” is still my choice, I cannot in good conscious vote for ether candidate.

Obama:

Came off very well, was just two guys talking over coffee and him sharing his answers, was very cool and seemed at ease taking about things, came off very personal.

But I believe still is a closet Left Wing Liberal and although I like his positions on some things, I do not like his position a lot of things. I think he is the better man for the job as far as his presents, personality and his ability to articulate things, very intelligent and comes off that way when he talks (This is why I believe he is so Popular, his charisma much more than his position on things). He acts like a president and would be the far superior choice to represent the nation in dealing with other leaders of the world. But over all would take us in the wrong direction on most issues.

McCain:

On the other hand came off like a politician, a infomercial salesmen trying to sell something with 30 sec sound bites, sometimes going off into unrelated stories promoting his position on something unrelated to the question at hand. Did not seam real or congenial in most of his answers. Felt like I was being sold something not a real person sharing who they where and what they where about. I Liked a few of his positions, but did not like a lot of them.

Even before this forum I did not like his persona, he is a hot head, a war monger and comes across as being a moron most of the time. (For example he made a comment last week about Russia invading Georgia, he said “In the 21st century countries to not invade and occupy other nations”, Hello Mr. I more hip on foreign affairs than the other guy, ever heard about Afghanistan and Iraq? Didn’t the US just do that!) I see him just being four more years of the mess that Bush has gotten this country in, lead the nation on the same self destructive path.

Can not believe that out of 300 million people this he is the best the republicans could come up with.

So bottom line my vote is “None of the Above” I will not be responsible for putting ether one in office and what they will do to this nation.

A lot of people debate the term “Missional” and “Missional Church”, being Missional.. And that I do not understand, missional simply means on mission, or on a mission which ever you prefer. Missional is not a program, a movement or even a mythology. It is both a command and a way of life, way of living, and for someone to say the church is not to be missional, is in essence calling Jesus a liar.

We read in Mat 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” Here Jesus is sending His people, the church into the world with a mission to fulfill. We are to make disciples, baptize them and then teach them the word. There it is our mission, the life we are to live, the calling, purpose of our life in Christ. It was at that point the church was commanded to be Missional. Jesus gave His church mission, these marching orders just before His ascended to the Father.

Then just a short time later Jesus returns and tells His disciples Acts 1: 8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” In today’s time this would read, be my witnesses in your city, your state and your country, and to the end of the earth.

So why do so many not understand this command of Jesus, the mission given to the Church? He could not have made it any clearer. Not only did the early church understand the mission, they focused on living out that mission their entire lives. That is the first characteristic we see in the first churches, they where missional, they where on mission, and no matter what anyone says, that was not something for them back then, but Not for us today, that is a deception of Satan.

Christians should not have to debate why be missional, it should be enough that Jesus said GO into your neighborhood, city, state and the entire world. What more do we need to know other than our Lord said GO, said make disciples, said baptize, said teach the word, that should be all we need to know, GO! And Do!

There it is our personal mission, the church is to be on mission, live on mission, the church is on mission, mission is not a department, a program, it is a way of life, a way of being. The answer to why be missional? Jesus said to!

Every Church should have the mindset that they are on a mission today, on Missio Dei, God’s mission. That they are to Go! That they are sent into the world!

Christianity is a set of truths, facts about God, Jesus, Sin and Salvation to name a few, it is an exact science, NOT an open dialog, a philosophical dialog, not be debated like some Greek philosophy open form as to what is true, like some pagan religion, but that is exactly what the Emergent movement is, is based on, no truths other than what you except as truth. But true Christianity is a set of dogmatic truths that are not open for debate, truths about God, Jesus, Salvation, what is Sin and how we are to live that are established by God, recoded in the scriptures, the bible for us to know. It is not a ‘Your OK I’m OK’ philosophy with what every we believe individualy to be true about God, Jesus, Sin and Salvation is truth.

The Emergent movement is based on Christianity being an open dialog, open debate as to what truths you as a individual hold to be true, and what ever that is, is OK.

Now I say this lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of me, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according the Christ. Col 2:4 & 8

The leaders of, and churches that are part of the Emergent movement pray on three kinds of people, the unsaved of course, and week Christians who do not study the word of God, and ones who chose to follow men, make men their god in stead of being grounded in the word of God, letting it establish their beliefs and set of truths or a plumbline as God calls it in Amos 7:8, defining all things, And not following Jesus over man.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2Pet 2:1

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Mat 24:24

I heard Chuck Smith a long time ago say during a teaching session, “If I or anyone every says something that does not alien up with the word of God, you must both disregard it and call them on it.” And when I heard that, the Holy Spirit branded that in to me, made it part of my foundation. The word of God in my foundation for all truth, I judge all things by it. I have never and will never follow a man or a church, or make my own list of what is sin and what is not. I follow Jesus, the Jesus reveled in the scriptures, who is God come in the flesh, who said if you love Me you will keep my words, commandments, and He wrote them all from Gen 1:1 to Rev 22:21.

I do not care if someone boast a church of 20,000, has written a dozen best sellers, the bible stands as the final authority on all things with me. I will not stand before any man on judgment day, I will not be judged according to the gospel of Rob Bell or Brian McLaren or Doug Pagitt or even my own, but rather the Gospel according to God in Jesus who is God and will judge all men according to the written word of God.
