Human Trafficking

For three years I Helped Rescue teens from Prostitution, from the sex trade on the streets of Hollywood CA when I was in YWAM. I am a doer, I’m not one to just talk about issues, especial when it comes to ministry, God calls us to be doers. God put a fire in my heart about what was going on, on the streets of Hollywood, so I went and did something about it. I physically went out with others and rescued girls from prostitution, I went to them, looked them in the eyes and sought to convince them to let us help them, I wept with them, prayed with them and recuse them from prostitution. So I’m not telling others they need to do something about human trafficking when I have done nothing, not rescued even one girl. I did not set in a YWAM office, I lived in the house we housed the rescued girls and guys in, I was on the streets daily for hours reaching out to the girls.  I actually did something, I personal rescued 100’s of girls from sex trafficking and I know their stories. So I am not an armchair quarterback here, I have been on the front line, in the battle. I am telling you this problem is real, more horrendous than you can imagine, and most likely in you own city.

Floyd McClung, who started a YWAM ministry in Amsterdam taking on the sex trade there said, said “I have ministered and lived on a devil’s doorstep”, well I too have done that. (Centrum Of Hollywood the YWAM ministry I was in of was modeled after his)

But rather than write a bunch of words about the critical problem of human trafficking and forced prostitution, which is far worse today than it was when I was on the streets. I’ve decided to just post some pictures and infographics, after all, a photo really is worth a thousand words. Sex slavery and forced child prostitution is a bigger issue than most realize, and it is not just a huge problem over there, some other country, it’s right here in the United States. You most likely have human trafficking and child prostitutes right in your own city, you might drive right past it on your way to work, to church even. Work with men, even know men who are using the services of human trafficked girls, physically buying and using girls, or using porn that was made with trafficked girls, which also helps create the demand for more girls for the sex trade.

Please share this with others, use it to start the conversation about this subject and maybe, just maybe that will lead to you to chose to do something about it.

For those who want to do something, take it on face to face

624-10A survey of a red light area of Bombay conducted by Indian Health Organization shows 20% of the 100,000 prostitutes are children.

It was estimated that in Delhi 50% of the prostitutes are Devadasis. Devadasis are children/girls who Parents devote them at or before the age of 10 to the Devadasi practice, the tradition that considers the young girls “married” to the goddess of fertility, Yellamma. These girls are then offered for sexual services after their first menstruation until they become “too old and unattractive.

They are considered to be the servants of god as they are married to the goddess Yellamma, and their service is to provide sex to all, it’s estimated that 4,000 to 5,000 girls are dedicated every year to the goddess for this purpose in Delhi alone, but no one will revile the real numbers.

Abhorrent as that is, we in America cannot point our fingers at them in discuss when American parents are doing the same thing right here, or at lest looking the other way letting others do it to their children and the children of others. Delivering their children over to others who are letting others use them for sex.

The school district of Provincetown, Mass passed a new policy that takes effect this school year that allows the distribution of condoms to students in all schools, regardless of their age. Not only will condoms made available to them, the school will also provide instructions on how to use them, and all with out parental consent needed. But in reality the parents are giving consent by not doing anything about the policy, like firing the school board and removing the policy.

When I was in High School not only could we not get condom’s but if you where caught having sex in school. Your parents would have been called in and you would be expelled. Today a if a 15, 13 or even 7 year old gets caught, not only will they not call in your parents or expel you. But they will simple give you a condom and give you any instructions you need to have sex and send you on your way. That is a sad state of affairs when our public schools have become just like Yellamma, allowing young girls to be sex objects for others.

True not all school district do this for elementary age children, but they do it for middle and high school kids and just like in Mass it is only a matter of time before it spreads across the land.

061110This year is the 50th anniversary of Youth With A Mission, YWAM, they have sent over 2 million into the mission field in those 50 years. And I thank God to have been one of them, I spent 3 years with YWAM as a missionary. They where 3 of the best years in my life so far, I spent my time working to rescue teens living on the streets, mostly girls under the age of 18 whom where victims of human trafficking. We worked the streets in an area estimated to have around 30,000 to 40,000 teens living on the streets, all of them in prostitution, and drugs as well. The youngest rescued by our ministry was 11, yes a 11 year old girl living on the streets selling her self to survive. They were trying years, it was a hard ministry to do most of the time, the things I witnessed, man at his worst, but also was a time of great joy, so many teens where rescue, the community life I had with my fellow YWAM’s was true church in action, the true Christian life seen the books of Acts.

On November 28, 2010, yammers and friends of YWAM from around the globe will converge on the UofN Kona campus for a six day celebration of YWAM’s 50th Jubilee. I will share some of my stories and experiences in YWAM between now and the end of the year.

5110A tragic and heart breaking report in The Economist magazine in March. Full article from The Economist here.

Even though it’s been known for years now, the Western media has been avoiding coverage of the horror. But thanks to The Economist stunning cover story,“Gendercide — What Happened to 100 Million Baby Girls?” the story has been brought to light by one of the most respected business magazines in the world.

In many nations of the world, Like China and India there is an all-out war on baby girls. In 1990, economist Amartya Sen estimated that 100 million baby girls were missing, sacrificed by parents who desired a son. Two decades later, multiple millions of missing baby girls must be added to that total, victims of abortion, infanticide, or fatal neglect.

The murder of girls is especially common in China and northern India, where a preference for sons produces a situation that is nothing less than critical for baby girls.

China’s one child per family, and preference for boys, has lead to a side effect they did not see coming, a Human Trafficking Boom. The Economist states; “China alone stands to have as many unmarried young as the entire population of young men in America. In any country rootless young males spell trouble; in Asian societies, where marriage and children are the recognized routes into society, single men are almost like outlaws. Crime rates, bride trafficking, sexual violence, even female suicide rates are all rising and will rise further as the lopsided generations reach their maturity.”

We have multiple issues here:

1. The genocide of girls, via abortion, murdered after birth, neglected unto death.

2. Young girls sold to human trafficking as a way to get rid of unwanted girl child.

3. Young girls being taking (kidnapped, bought, tricked though deception, est.) from other nation by traffickers and brought in to fill the shortage of girls caused by the genocide of girls the last 20 years.

I applaud The Economist for writing this article, saying what everyone else has been hiding their faces from: “It is no exaggeration to call this gendercide. Women are missing in their millions–aborted, killed, neglected to death.” Please read the article but don’t just let be head knowledge, let it be a call to action for you, stand up for the millions of girls that are not only being gendercide, but that are being Trafficked into the sex slave market as well. So now that you know, what are you going to do about it?

_46626707_websitegrab In a victory in the war against human trafficking Chinese police have found 2,008 children, ranging from babies to young adults, who were kidnapped from their families. Hundreds of arrests have also been made and 42 suspects were detained last week for allegedly selling 52 children in the north of China.

In China’s patriarchal society, baby boys are especially prized, sometimes selling for as much as $6,000 (£3,670), says the BBC’s Quentin Sommerville in Beijing.

Girls are sometimes sold for just $500 (£305), he says.

Human traffickers also kidnap girls in order to sell them as brides in areas where there is a high ratio of men to women. Some families also sell their female children in order to be able to try again for a boy. Children of poor farmers or migrant workers are often targeted. The parents of such children have complained in the past of official indifference to their plight.

Federal officials announced Monday that 52 children had been saved and nearly 700 people had been arrested and charged over the past three days in a nationwide crackdown on child prostitution.

Officials of the FBI, along with representatives of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and police agencies throughout the country, said the arrests were the results of investigations in 36 cities.

Too many still do not believe human trafficking is not only alive and well in the US but is growing daily.

A father of two from Nepal who thought he was going to America wound up in Iraq, forced to work at a U.S. airbase. A 14-year-old Ugandan girl kidnapped by rebels spent nearly eight years in captivity as a sex slave and human shield. And a young Venezuelan woman lured to New York by the man she loved wound up in a brothel his family was running.

Charlotte Awino described how she and 138 other girls were abducted from a boarding school in 1996 by rebels from the Lords Resistance Army, marched for three months into southern Sudan, and used as human shields during fighting against Uganda soldiers.

"As usual, we girls suffered more," she said. "We were distributed to rebel commanders, as objects without rights, and we were sexually abused. … I was given to a man who had 20 other abducted girls, and he was a brutal man. I had two children with him."

"Kikka Cerpa described falling in love with a man named Daniel while working at a hotel in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, when she was 17 years old. A few years later, she said, Daniel moved to New York and eventually she went to join him, only to discover that his family ran a sex trafficking ring.

"The first night was the worst," she said, her voice quavering. "I have to service 90 men."

These are just some highlights of the daily stories going on around the world, everyday more and more people are being Trafficking  in every country into slavery, forced labor and sexual exploitation.

selling organs There is a world wide epidemic going on, an atrocity, an appalling act that reveals both the said status of the worlds economy, but also sets new lows in depravity for our day. Desperately poor people are sell kidneys for cash, from the Philippines, to India, Pakistan, Egypt to Iraqi and even in the US.

There are hundreds of stories a day now like:

"I’m a father of four and my wife is very sick. I do not have work and need money desperately to support them and for this reason I decided to sell my kidney."

Karim borrowed money to expand his bakery. When the money ran out, and
facing the prospect of imprisonment if unable to repay his debts, the 36-year-
old Egyptian baker sold his kidney.

Poverty meets Human Trafficking

Not only is poverty forcing people to such desperate acts to survive, but there are street children being snatched up and forcible having a kidney removed by black market doctors. Even parents selling a kidney of their children for money. The worse cases is they are selling their daughters kidney, then they sell her, her whole body to a trafficker to be used for the sex trade.

This is the said truth, condition of the world today, extreme poverty growing world wide forcing people to do horrible things to survive. Poverty is a severe plague on the world, people doing insanely horrible things to survive. And horrible people doing unimaginable things to others to make money off the poor.

Sweatshops I was very angry when I was made aware of the fact that Christian items from bible covers to t-shirts are being made in factors which abuse and traffic workers, that is sweatshops.

The Just Holy Hardware Campaign in Australia launched last week as part of a movement to end slavery, especially slavery of children, in the production of religious items.  The initiative, aims to provide religious organizations in Australia with paraphernalia made under fair labor conditions, with a "no-slavery" guarantee.

This is something that should not be happing in the US, how can it be that Christian goods sold in Christian book stores are being produced in sweatshops, by human trafficked people, children. There should be someone taking up the cause to stop this practice such as the Just Holy Hardware Campaign to put an end to this practice here in the US.

The Association for Christian Retail needs to adopt a set of standards similar to the ones adopted in Australia, it would make a huge impact on the lives of the slaves who are right now suffering in silence while making religious artifacts. Send them a letter or call them and tell them you do not what Christian goods to be made by salve labor, in sweatshops, by people caught up in human trafficking. Tell the Association for Christian Retail to adopt a set of anti-slavery standards for the production of Christian goods by signing the portion on this link! That the good are to be produce by people earning a good wage, in good working condition.
