365 Days of Mission Tag

6-2910Question that most people ask themselves is “What do I want to do with my life?” “What is my purpose?” “What is God’s will for my life?”, some of us seem to be asking that question year after year. It seems like the majority of people I talk with are seeking the answer to some form of those questions.

I think most of the time we answer those questions ether tied to the past, if I would have…I would be doing this… having this life. If only I would have done…….. I could be doing…! Or we make it futuristic, well if this happens….when I get……I will have the life I want. If God will……….then I will……….! If God would just speak! So until then we stand there like deer in headlight, dead in our tracks.

I read something today that opened my eyes, give me a possible answer, or at lest something to think about. “Just start creating life/purpose right now, right where you are with what you have and know, our life can only happen in the present moment, not tomorrow or in the next month”.

Maybe shifting our focus from thinking about what we don’t know to what we do know, that will enable us to real purpose right now and answer our questions above.

Having said that, in the specific question, “What is God’s will for me?” So many people do no ministry because they are waiting to find out God’s will.

The best way to know God’s will, is by doing what you know to do, so start doing what God has already told every follower of Christ is His will for your life, the calling of every follower is in scripture.

Like start with Mark 16:15, “And He said unto them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” So start today, right now sharing the gospel, with whom, with everyone you meet during the day, there is your answer. You do not need to wait for anything more, no sign from above, no training needed, because Jesus said He would give you what to say even, Mark 13:11.

More of God’s will for you…… Matthew 28:16-20, start making disciples, so start discipling someone, find someone to pour your life into, the life of Christ into. Start teaching the word of God to others, start with your family if you are married.

Next, starting doing Matthew 25:31-46 today, go feed the hungry, give a drink to the thirsty, cloth the naked, visit and pray for the sick, take in a stranger in need. That is a full day, full day of purpose right there, and those are God’s will for you, your life.

Putting everything together

  1. Preach the Gospel to everyone you meet daily.
  2. Be discipling others.
  3. Be teaching the word of God to others.
  4. Be feeding the hungry.
  5. Giving drink, water to the thirsty.
  6. Clothing the naked.
  7. visiting and praying for the sick.
  8. Take in a stranger in need.

By the way living like that is also being missional.

Mother Teresa said “If you can’t feed a hundred people, feed just one.” and all of us can do that, if only that.

So if you are looking for the answer to “What do I want to do with my life” “What is God’s will for my life”, the above just might be the answer, the place to start anyway. Something to think about anyway.

341A great example of living missional I know of is Jaeson Ma, a pastor at large in LA. He lives his life on mission, he does what others talk and blog about doing. He is living out the mission of Jesus.

Every day Jaeson does acts of love for stranger and people he knows alike. Things like buys a meal for a homeless person, pay for a motel room for them. Buys a tank of gas for some in need. He prays for the sick, blind and deaf, and they are healed. Gives clothing to the needy. And with everyone of them he shares the gospel. He feeds the hungry, cloths the naked, take in the stranger, give sight to the blind.

Every day he shares the gospel with others, on the streets, in a restaurant, or from the stage of an event. Last year he was part of an out reach in Indonesia that drew over 35,000 people a night, that is unsaved people in the most populated Muslim country in the world. He preaches the gospel

He plants churches, he has planted over 200 churches in the Us and in Asia such as South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia.

He travels to Asia monthly, places like China, S Korea, Indonesia, he goes and plants churches, preaches the gospel, holds massive revival, he teaches in churches. As he puts it he lives in two time zones, California and Asia. He goes into the world with the gospel.

He is also a artist, he writes and sings, so he takes the word of God to others in both song and words (preaching). As well as he just produced a movie (1040) about Christianity in the New Asia. About what God is doing in Asia, Jaeson both performs in the movie.

Jaeson has been an encouragement to me in my walk, to live Missionally, he inspired me with his 365 Days of Love, to do like wise myself this year. He is truly one who lives Missionally, on mission, he does not not talk about doing it, he is doing it. Read his blog here.

missional-livingI have read so many blogs about being Missional, heard so many people at conferences that talk about being missional. But yet the vast majority of them are not living Missionally.  Too many who are not living Missionally criticize those who are. And too many talk about it, tell others to live Missionally while not living it themselves. And that is so wrong, people should be leading, teaching by example, if you are not doing it then you need to get busy and live that way if you want to talk about it.

In light of that, this is what I now ask people who say they are living Missionally, who write and speak about living Missionally. Because I ask these very questions of myself.

How may people did you share the gospel of Jesus with today? This week?
How many came to the LORD while you shared the Gospel with them today? This week?
How may people did you baptized this week? (it should match the question above)
Who are you currently discipling? (you meet with daily long term as did Jesus)

The above is the great “mission” given to every follower of Christ in Mat 28:19, Mark 16:15 and in Act’s 1:8.

All of these are Jesus’ marching orders to His followers, the mark of a follower of Christ, at the core of Jesus mission for us. It is imposable to be on Jesus’ mission unless you are doing these things, this was/is His mission on earth.

Next I ask:

Are you feeding the hungry? Did you today? This week? How did you personally do it?
Are you clothing the naked? Did you today? this week? How did you personally do it?
Are you giving drink the they thirsty? Did you today? this week? How did you personally do it?
Are you visiting, lay hands on and pray for the sick? Did you today? this week?
Are you taking in strangers? Did you today? this week?
Are you visiting those imprisoned? Did you today? this week?
Are you setting any captives free? Did you today? this week? How did you?

This is what Jesus said if you do not do the things above: Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Mat 25:31-46 Jesus did all these things daily during His life,  so He is saying if you are saved, you too will do them, continue His mission.

I believe all of those are the basic requirements to live Missionally (and according to Jesus the actions of someone whom is saved), living on mission is to be living on the mission of Jesus. So unless we are doing them and doing them daily,  we are not on His mission,  living Missionally according to Jesus. Yes there is more to living on mission, Missionally, but these are the core, must be doing things.

In summery, I believe the only way we can claim to live on mission, to be living Missionally is if our life is fulfilling Mat 28:19, Mark 15:16 Acts 1:8 and Mat 25: 31-43. So I will ask you the same questions I ask myself, how did you live those out today? This week?

So before you write a book, blog about, speak at a conference or tweet about being missional, I will ask you to answer the above questions first. Before you tell others to or how to, or criticize those who are living it out.

As for myself this is how I chose to live on mission, to live Missioanlly, by imitating the life of Jesus, being obedient to His commands (like the ones above), to continue His mission with my life as I see in scripture.

3-20-10Got my new passport in the mail today, I had let it expire not having any need for it. But after having been lead by a burning desire to get it renewed and what seems to have been the leading of the Spirit to get it, I have it and am free to move about the world again.

The very day I applied for it I was given two words from the LORD that where related to me getting it, it could be used to enable the fulfillment of the words given to me. (read here)

I prayed over it and claimed Is 2:8 over it: “Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.” I even wrote it on a stick note and attached it to my passport.

I also claim Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” and that is my plan for it.

I want to fill up every page of it with places that I have been, places that I preached the gospel, planted churches, feed the hungry, clothed the naked and set the captives free.

I say to the LORD as did Isaiah: “Here I am LORD, send me!” I am ready to Go!

0130185237Had one of my most incredible encounters with God last night at the IHOP Awaking. The worship lead by Misty Edwards was incredible as it always is, that girl brings even to earth with her spontaneous worship. The Holy Spirit was moving big time last night, I was brought into the throne room last night. The Spirit was all over me. The most amazing part was three people came up to me over the course of 3 hours and laid hands on me and each gave me a word from the Lord.

One was so obvious it was the Lord because the guy read my mail, what he said was so right on as to personal a thing going on in me. No way he could have randomly said what he did about me.

On word was on the scale of life changing, today as I have been processing all of it. I put it on the same level as the word of God to Abraham by God’s messages, when told Sarah would bear him a son.

It shook me to my core, I could only weep and rejoice at the same time, and called out to the Lord for it to be true. Oh how I want it to be true. Like that of Abraham’s it was a message of great hope and promise for me, but from my view even more imposable than Abraham’s promise.

The third one piggy backed on the big one, while someone was praying for me God gave him vision of me. When he said what it was nether of us quite understood one part of. But while in bed last night, it came to me, and I understood what it was about, at least I think I do.

And I am steeping out in faith that both (they are intertwined together) where from God and He can and will make it come to pass.

What an amazing night with the Lord, awesome worship at His feet, filled with dancing, singing, weeping, shouts of joy. And thee life changing words, prophecies from the Lord.

21210Today was day 3 of the Radicalis conference hosted by Saddleback Church and Rick Warren. Got a lot out of what was shared by Rick in his closing session. It really gave me a lot to digest that falls inline with what God has been saying to me. Give more refinement to my 365 Days of Mission and 365 Days of Love. I feel more life change decisions being made very soon. Do not know yet what to do will all God has been bringing my way these last few weeks.

Day 3 has further equipped me for both my 365 Days of Mission and Acts of Love, giving more focus to them and a deeper understanding of God is calling me to do.

Here are some of my notes:

Is anyone going to be in heaven because of you and your investments? ~ A question everyone needs to ask themselves daily!

“Jesus doesn’t care about politics, or making America great again. Jesus cares about people (their salvation).” And so should we, we should not be about getting someone to join the Tea Party, but join our heavenly Fathers table for the wedding feast.

And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings. Luke 16:9

In a sense that is use our money to buy people for the Kingdom, that is spend our money for the work of the Kingdom, giving to the poor, helping others, however means necessary to reach others. Gain them as a eternal friend by being God’s instrument in their coming to faith in Christ.

We should ask our selves are you spending our money for the Kingdom, or worldly junk that will burn.

The greatest thing you can do with your life and money is to get other people into the Kingdom.

We must get angry about what Jesus got angry about
– When the needs of children go unmet
– When the suffering of others is ignored
– People who should know better (i.e. religious leaders)
– People who took advantage of the poor
– Getting rich on religion
– Poverty
– Disease
– Injustice

We must sacrifice for what Jesus sacrificed
– If you only preach freedom from hell, but not freedom from sin, you’ll get people who are saved, but don’t want to be holy

I feel some very great life-changing decisions in my life soon, God is differently working in major ways in me right now.

2-11-10A Radical Experience

Attended the Radical Experience conference via the web cast today, it was hosted by Saddleback Church and Rick Warren. It was for pastors and church planters. Rick Warren, Mark Driscoll, Perry Nobel, Ed Stetzer and Andy Stanley where some of the speakers.

Heard some good things, Ed Stetzer did a good job of motivating church multiplication, church planting, gave 5 reason every church should be planting churches every year and they should be planting churches.

Rick Warren was on living on mission, he gave the top 5 problems of the world, and a list of the 5 things Jesus did, what His mission consisted of and how those 5 things are our mission. And then he showed how Jesus’ 5 acts of mission where the answer, solution to the 5 top problems of the world.

* Global Problem #1: Spiritual emptiness
* Spiritual emptiness causes conflict
* Global Problem #2: Corrupt leadership
* This means leaders don’t understand what being a leader means, you are either selfish or humble
* The purpose of influence is to speak up for those who have no influence
* Global Problem#3: Poverty
* Global Problem#4: Pandemic diseases
* We need leaders who say, “enough is enough” when it comes to diseases
* Global Problem #5: Illiteracy and lack of education

The 5 things Jesus did, His mission consited of

* Plant churches/promote reconicliation
* Equip servant leaders
* Assist the poor
* Care for the sick
* Educate the next generation

How does that deal with the 5 World Problems

* The only group that can answer these 5 Problem is the church
* Jesus preached reconciliation and he planted a church
* What kingdom leadership looks like (Matthew 20:25 – 26)
* Jesus assisted the poor
* Jesus cared for the sick
* Jesus educated the next generation
* Study Luke 10, Mark 9 and Matthew 10 is the P.E.A.C.E. Plan

The PEACE plan is ordinary people empowered by God, doing what Jesus did, together, wherever they are

This conference was about living out the mission of God today, as a pastor, a church planter, being a Christian on mission. The things I want to implement into my life daily.

2-5-10364 Days and Acts of Mission, that is for 365 days I will do at lest one act of Mission. Be Missional.

As I mentioned Wednesday when I blogged about my new commitment to doing 365 Days & Acts of Love, that it had brought to mind other things I wanted to do for the next year.

Project two is 364 Days and Acts of Mission, that is for 365 days I will do at lest one act of Mission. That is the mission of Jesus that was passed on to His people, to His church. Living missional as we say, but now with deliberate actions and intent daily just as I am also pursuing deliberate acts of love each day. (read here)

This will be doing things like sharing the gospel with strangers, make disciples, baptizing others, bringing healing to others, planting a church, acts that bring and build the kingdom of God to earth. That spread the gospel to the world.

I am not seeking to add another thing to my schedule, but rather making my existing schedule, life style missional. Everything from eating meals, going to the gym,  work, grocery shopping, trip to the library, getting a haircut and playing basketball, will all be done with a missional intent. It is simply looking at what Jesus did and do what He did, looking for what Jesus is doing each day and  join Him in it.

Simply put, mission and the gospel will be part of every activity I do, but I will do at least one distinct, intentional, bold act of mission a day, and I will try to blog about one of the acts each day to share with you.

The gospel component can be added in a natural but intentional way as I converse throughout the activities of my day. The mission is simply me living as Jesus did, everything He did and said was to further the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom message of reconciliation and healing to the world. (He said we will do everything He did and “even greater things” John 14:12 I am simply holding Him to His promise)

To sum it up ~ I will do 365 acts of Mission for 365 days of the next year.

The purpose ~ To not just talk about the mission of Christ, but be about doing the mission of Christ.

The goal ~ To live a life on mission that will spread the Kingdom of God and the gospel, the work of Christ on earth and inspire others to live the same.

Feed the Hungry, Go to Cambodia.

Or Go to any of the other 50 nations that the worlds poorest people live in.

These are the face of hunger, look at these faces , there are 153 million children who go to bed hungry, 16,000 children will die from hunger today, how can you say you do not have the time to save them.

Look at how this child finds dinner, if at all. Imaging your child having to do this. Well too many parents watch their children do this to eat.

There are 162 million people who live in ‘ultra poverty’ on less than 50 cents a day, One billion people live on less than $1 a day. Every day, one child every five second dies from hunger-related causes..

Jesus said this is Him, this is His face you are looking at, hungry, naked, thirsty.

Until you have seen this, looked into their hungry eyes, seen them live in cardboard box, you can not understand this. Until you hold a starving child in you arms you do not know how real this tragedy is.

Go spend 3 or 4 weeks here , or the rest of you life here, Go save the lives of children, Go do what Jesus told His church, followers to do in Matt 25. This experience will change you, the way you understand the gospel, change how you see the world. Change what you think is important in life, how you live, spend money, even eat and dress. It is by seeing and touching this reality, seeing the magnitude of it that makes it real to you, this is what will change what you do with your money, how much you give. You can not understand this suffering tell you touch it, see into the eyes of a hungry child, this is why all Christians must go, and do.

There are more than 300 verse in the bible in which God talks about the poor, that they are nearest to His heart and it’s the responsibility of His people to take care of them. Do you really believe the gospel is that Jesus died so you can be rich, comfortable and fat, while children starve to death? Jesus is calling out to His people to come to Him. Who will answer His call, will You? Go! You will never be the same again.

Part 4
